Carer Gateway

The Carer Gateway provides emotional and practical services and support for carers. It is an Australian Government program that provides free services and support to anyone who is caring for a family member or friend with disability, a medical condition, mental illness or who is frail due to age. Carers Tasmania

Carers Tasmania provide care and support to family members and friends who have a disability, mental illness, chronic condition, terminal illness or who are frail and aged. They work closely with government and other support organisations to improve the lives of caring families throughout Tasmania.

Caring is more widely recognised in the community and Carers Tasmania continue to work hard with governments, health professionals and the community sector to make sure that the needs of Carers are kept on the table.

Of course this is just the tip of the iceberg. They have a lot more work to do!

Please take a look at our flyer for all of the services that we provide. You can find the flyer on their website.

Better Start

Better Start for Children with Disability provides improved access to early intervention services. Eligible children will be able to access up to $12,000 in early intervention funding.

As the NDIS is introduced, funding for early intervention services and treatment provided under the Better Start program will move to the NDIS. Better Start Medicare items will also move to NDIS.

As the NDIS is rolling out in Tasmania. Better Start will eventually close to new clients and Better Start participants will move to the NDIS. Better Start will keep operating in areas where the NDIS isn’t yet running. At the moment only children aged 0-3 can register with Better Start. Children aged 4-7 are now part of the age cohort in Tasmania. As a child is accepted by NDIS and has a funded support package, Better Start funding will be taken over by NDIS.
